Manchester Airport terminal re-opens hours after it was evacuated over unattended bag

Manchester Airport, terminal 2 has been re-opened hours after it was evacuated. An unattended bag was found around 4pm on Friday. “Due to an unattended bag being found in Terminal Two, a controlled evacuation is currently taking place, as is standard procedure. As always, the safety of all of our passengers is of paramount importance and we will provide an update on the situation as soon as possible,” said a Manchester Airport spokesman.

The bag has been cleared by The Greater Manchester police and terminal 2 has re-opened following evacuation. Staff are being allowed back into the terminal first and passengers are also returning to the terminal.

Terminal 2 has now re-opened following this afternoon’s evacuation and passengers are returning to the terminal.

A spokesperson said, “After the discovery of an unattended bag, parts of Terminal Two were evacuated as a precaution, while an examination was carried out. The bag has now been cleared by Greater Manchester Police and we will now begin the process of re-opening the terminal.We thank customers for their cooperation and patience during this process. The safety and security of our passenger will always be our number one priority.”
