Iran-Israel: Iran launches fresh missiles, says Israeli military as Trump’s ‘complete ceasefire’ hangs in air

Iran's foreign minister has said that there is no 'agreement' yet regarding ceasefire with Israel after Trump made 'complete ceasefire' announcement.

After US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that there has been “no agreement” on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations with Israel, while adding that if Israel stops its “illegal aggression” now, Iran has no intention to continue its response afterwards. Israel is yet to officially confirm the ceasefire development. This comes after Iran targeted America’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with a barrage of missiles on Monday night (around 10 pm IST) which triggered air space closure in several gulf countries.

Iran’s response to US strikes: Explosions were heard over Doha, Qatar, as Iran reportedly launched six missiles targeting US air bases, according to an Axios reporter citing an Israeli official. A Western diplomat told Reuters that a credible Iranian threat to the Al Udeid Air Base—America’s largest in the Middle East—has existed since noon Monday. Qatar has temporarily shut down its airspace for safety, and British and US citizens have been advised to shelter in place.

Regional tensions ripple outward: Oil tanker movement in the Strait of Hormuz remains largely steady, though threat levels are “elevated.” A drone crash in Jordan’s capital caused material damage. The Israeli military warned Tehran residents to avoid weapons sites. France condemned an Israeli strike on Tehran’s Evin prison, Italy opposed EU action against Israel, and Germany reported no immediate security impact. Meanwhile, Iran arrested a European national for alleged spying for Israel.

Israel-Iran News LIVE Updates: US strikes on Iran add to global travel disruptions and flight cancellations

The US entry into Israel’s war with Iran has caused travel disruptions to pile up globally. Following unprecedented bombings ordered by President Donald Trump on three Iranian nuclear and military sites over the weekend, Iran on Monday launched a missile attack on US forces at Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base.

Qatar had closed its airspace just hours earlier, after both the US and UK also urged their citizens to shelter in place there. The region has been on edge following the weekend strikes from the US — and since Israel began the war with a surprise bombardment on Iran, which has responded with its own missile and drone strikes, earlier this month.

As deadly attacks escalated between Israel and Iran, sections of airspace and airports throughout the region have temporarily closed. And airlines canceled more flights in recent days, with some halting select routes through the middle of the week — particularly in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, just across the Persian Gulf from Iran.

Israel-Iran News LIVE Updates: Trump heads to NATO summit on heels of a possible Israel-Iran ceasefire

US President Donald Trump’s first appearance at NATO since returning to the White House was supposed to center on how the US secured a historic military spending pledge from others in the defensive alliance — effectively bending it to its will.

But in the spotlight instead now is Trump’s decision to strike three nuclear enrichment facilities in Iran that the administration says eroded Tehran’s nuclear ambitions as well as the president's sudden announcement that Israel and Iran had reached a “complete and total ceasefire.” The sharp U-turn in hostilities just hours before he was set to depart for the summit is sure to dominate the discussions in The Hague, Netherlands.

The impact of the strikes had already begun to shape the summit, with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte dancing around the issue even as hundreds of people showed up in The Hague on Sunday to denounce the conflict in a protest that was supposed to be focused on defense spending.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview published on Tuesday that he saw little chance at the moment of reviving a 2015 deal to limit Iran's nuclear programme. Ryabkov made the comments to the Izvestia news outlet before US President Donald Trump announced an agreement for a ceasefire between Iran and Israel after more than a week of trading air strikes.

Ryabkov was speaking after the United States launched its own strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, claiming to have "completely and totally obliterated" Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities. "I do not see at the moment, conditions for restoring the (Iran deal)," Ryabkov told Izvestia, referring to the 2015 accord, known as the JCPOA.

"But this does not mean abandoning diplomacy, quite the opposite. Now is the time to redouble our efforts to achieve to come to some decisions that would help stabilise the situation." Ryabkov said Russia "understood the logic and argumentation of our friends in Tehran, and of course this means an end to the strikes an end to further escalation by the other side. "This is the clear pre-condition for our Iranian colleagues to consider their political-diplomatic options."
