Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, will serve as the next leader of Turning Point USA, the organisation said on Thursday.
The group’s board announced in a social media post that Erika Kirk has been unanimously elected to be the group’s new CEO and board chair.
“In prior discussions, Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death,” the group said.
Turning Point USA was co-founded by Charlie Kirk and fellow conservative activist Bill Montgomery in June 2012 as a nonprofit to promote conservative politics, especially in schools and colleges.
Kirk served as the CEO, chief fundraiser, and the public face of Turning Point USA from its founding to his death earlier this month.
Kirk and Turning Point USA have been credited with playing a key role in getting Donald Trump elected as the US President. Turning Point USA campaigned for Trump in all three of his presidential campaigns from 2016 to 2024.
Following the shocking murder of Kirk at the age of 31, many had raised concerns about Turning Point USA’s future.
Kirk was shot dead while addressing a group of students at Utah Valley University as part of his American Comeback Tour.
On Wednesday, Erika Kirk vowed to continue his campus tour and his radio and podcast shows.
“My husband’s mission will not end. Not even for a moment,” Erika Kirk said.
“Our campus tours this fall will continue, and there will be even more tours in the years to come,” she added.
Colorado State University will be the first to host the American Comeback Tour without Charlie Kirk on Thursday.
Montana State University is scheduled to host the American Comeback Tour on October 7, and according to the Vice President of University Communications, they have not received any communication from Turning Point USA regarding potential changes to the planned event.
