Weather forecast Today India highlights: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in six districts of Kerala, predicting extremely heavy rains in Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Ernakulam and Thrissur from July 18-20. Extremely heavy rains– over 204 mm rains in 24 hours have been forecast, an IMD bulletin said.

Very heavy to extremely heavy rain forecast for Kerala

The second spell of the South West Monsoon is starting Wednesday and there is a possibility of formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said. "Since there are possibilities of flooding and landslides, people have been asked to be extremely cautious and take necessary precaution to keep themselves safe," Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a Facebook post.

Kerala rains:Red alert issued in six districts

The red alert, denoting likelihood of very heavy to extremely heavy rain has been issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts on different days from July 18-20. Extremely heavy rains-- over 204 mm rain in 24 hours have been forecast, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin said.

Flash floods in Bihar killed 25 people so far: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday that 25 people have so far been killed in flash floods, that have affected 25.71 lakh people in 16 districts of the state. "I have given instructions for stepping up relief and rescue operations. A total of 125 motorboats have been pressed into service while 26 companies of the NDRF and the SDRF have been deployed...it has helped us rescue 1.25 lakh people from the flood-affected areas," Kumar said in the Assembly.

Delhi: Skies to remain cloudy, 84% humidity recorded

The IMD  has predicted light to moderate rains across the city later in the day.

"The skies will remain generally cloudy. The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 33 degrees Celsius," the weatherman said.

The humidity recorded at 8.30 am was 84 per cent, he also said.
