Google Meet, the tech giant’s video conferencing solution can now stream group video calls with 3 or more participants in Full HD. Available for Workspace subscribers, the ability to watch webcam feeds during group calls in 1080p currently seems to be limited to the web version of Meet.
In a blog post, Google says that the higher resolution is currently turned off by default and requires a 1080p camera. However, it can be quickly turned from the on-screen prompt or navigating to the settings menu. Meeting participants will be able to see others in Full HD only if they are pinned or if the viewer has a screen to support the video quality.
One thing to note here is that the feature will require additional bandwidth when enabled, but Google says it will automatically dial down the quality if the internet gets slow.
The ability to view video meetings in Full HD is available for Google Workspace customers with Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Workspace Individual subscribers. However, it is not available for Google One subscribers.
