Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Sharma scored the fastest IPL century by an uncapped batter in 39 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) on Tuesday. He became the eighth uncapped batter and the seventh Indian uncapped player to score a century in IPL.

Priyansh came into the limelight in the Delhi Premier League where he hit six sixes in an over. His century was the second-fastest by any Indian in IPL after Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball century against Mumbai Indians. It was also the quickest hundred by any player against CSK.

AS IT HAPPENED | PBKS vs CSK IPL 2025 HIGHLIGHTS

The Delhi batting sensation made his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans. Arya had a breakout bidding at the IPL Mega Auction 2025 at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah last November. Starting from a base price of Rs 30 lakh, the left-handed Arya’s stocks jumped 10 times to Rs 3.8 crore as PBKS locked in on the 23-year-old, fending off challenges from Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Arya had a sensational run at the Delhi Premier League in September 2024, topping the batting charts with over 600 runs in only 10 games. He has only played 11 T20s thus far in his career.

Representing South Delhi Superstarz, Arya smacked six sixes in an over during a match against North Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League 2024 as his team eventually made a record score of 308/5 in 20 overs. Arya was also Delhi’s highest run-getter in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, aggregating 222 runs in seven innings at a 166.91 strike rate.

Growing up in Ashok Vihar New Delhi, Priyansh gained freedom when it came to cricket but his parents, both teachers by profession, made sure that he did well in his studies also. “He was seven when he said, he wants to play cricket. I was fine with that but since I am a school teacher and my wife (Radha Bala Arya) is also a school teacher, we made sure that he gets good education,” Priyansh’s father, Pawan Arya, told the Indian Express.
