In a game where tensions were palpable India A fast bowler Harshit Rana got into a heated argument with Bangladesh A batter Soumya Sarkar during the semifinal of the Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Friday in Colombo.

The incident occurred in the 26th over of the innings when Bangladesh was in a bit of a pickle chasing a small total of 212. The onus was on Sarkar with international experience to shepherd his side home.

However, Sarkar tried to work the ball on the legside of off-spinner Yuvrajsinh Dodiya. He seemed to have gotten an inside edge and then the ball hit his pad to pop in the air. Nikin Jose at slip made a stunning effort to reach the ball and claimed the catch.

Sarkar was given out by the on-field umpire. But the Bangladeshi batters enquired about the legality of the catch when Rana got involved and things got heated up. Indian players and umpires had to intervene between the angry duo and calm them down.

The Wicket of Sarkar was the turning point in the game as Bangladesh lost the next five wickets for just 30 runs and were bundled out for 160. Defending a small total on a tricky surface Indian spinners stepped up and delivered the goods.

The tweakers took all 10 Bangladesh wickets led by left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu, who picked up a five-wicket haul. Earlier in the game skipper Yash Dhull played a handy 66-run knock when India was in trouble to help his team post a defendable total on the board.

India will face Pakistan in A in the final of the tournament on Sunday.
