TN mops up Rs 23,142 cr tax revenue

Tamil Nadu has mopped up tax revenue of Rs 23,142 crore up by 26.2 per cent,during the first half of this year,Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister B V Ramanaa said today.

Tamil Nadu has mopped up tax revenue of Rs 23,142 crore up by 26.2 per cent,during the first half of this year,Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister B V Ramanaa said today.

After chairing a review meeting here,the Minister said the generated revenues during the same period of last year was Rs 18,331 crore.

During September,the State collected revenues of Rs 3,873.36 crore up by 16.5 per cent,from Rs 3,321.97 crore in the year ago period.

Highlighting the importance of the enforcement wing in identifying tax evasion and better tax compliance,he said till September 30,2012,the wing has collected Rs 19 crore during lorry checks,while the roving squads collected Rs 21 crore.

He stressed the need to check movement of inter-State vehicles and tax evasion be stopped,a release said.

The Minister asked the officers to create more awareness on e-payment by dealers enabling them to make e-filing of the returns.

Commercial Taxes and Registration department Secretary Sunil Paliwal,Commercial Taxes Commissioner K Manivasan and additional commissioners and joint commissioners participated in the meeting,the release added.
