A set of motion-sensitive cameras fitted with automatic sensors that was part of the ongoing tiger census inside the Kaziranga National Park recorded two poachers early this morning,once again bringing to light the vulnerability of the one-horned rhinoceros there.
While our forest guards heard two gun-shots in the early hours,a search operation found one of the two cameras placed for tiger trapping missing. On examining the other camera,our officials found visuals of two armed poachers, said the park director of Kaziranga,Surajit Dutta.
He said the two poachers had sophisticated rifles and revolvers.
Their features clearly indicated that they were tribal persons,most probably from Nagaland,and were around 25 years of age, he said.
