India on Monday asked Norway to return an NRI couple their children,who have been placed under foster care.
India summoned Norwegian Charge dAffairs Aslak Brun and informed him of its concern over the issue. The couples two children were taken away by Barnevarne,the Norwegian Childcare Services,citing emotional disconnect and placed under foster care. Foreign Minister S M Krishna also spoke to his Norwegian counterpart to find an amicable and urgent solution.
Given the childrens young age,removal from the care of their natural parents and to be placed in foster care till they turn 18 is an extreme step which should normally be a last resort. Krishna said.
