The Witness Protection Cell (WPC) set up by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the post-Godhra riots received its first complaint on Thursday. Firoz Khan Pathan,a witness in the Gulberg Society massacre case,called up the WPCs 24X7 helpline number alleging criminal intimidation.
Pathan said an unidentified person called from a local number and threatened him with dire consequences for naming VHP leader Atul Vaidya and Gulberg resident Mahesh Nath before the SIT. The caller allegedly threatened to kill Asif Malek,an SRP jawan deployed for Pathans security.
