Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from June 7,during which he is expected to renew the offer for talks with separatists and review the progress in the Round Table peace initiative.

The Prime Minister will also address the convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University, his office has confirmed, according to officials.

We have finalised all the arrangements for the convocation and the Prime Minister will be addressing the event, said a senior university official.

During his trip, the PM will be meeting top leaders of mainstream political parties. Sources said Singh is also likely to extend invitation of talks to the separatist leadership. Like his previous visit (last year),this time also Prime Minister Singh will offer invitation of talks to the separatists camp, said a senior Congress leader.

The visit comes against the backdrop of the quiet diplomacy initiated by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram with separatist leaders failing to make any headway as the Hurriyat refused to join it owing to pressures from the militant groups.

A meeting with bureaucrats and Army and police officials was also being planned to discuss the spurt in infiltration from across the border.
