MT Cotton,a Malta-flagged vessel that was hijacked by pirates on July 15,was released on Monday and is now in safe waters,the Directorate General of Shipping said.
The vessel had 24 Indian crew members on board and was carrying 10,000 metric tonnes of fuel oil. All the crew are safe and none of them is in need of medical assistance. Pirates have looted all the personal effects of the crew and the provisions,medicines,cash,etc,of the vessel, the DG Shipping said.
