A man was allegedly brutally assaulted by his wifes parents on the court premises in Rewari district on Wednesday. The girls family also allegedly tried to abduct the man,Balwan,but could not do so as onlookers overpowered them.
Following the incident,the girls brother Subhash and relatives Praveen,Rajkumar and their driver Narender were arrested on charges of abduction and assault.
According to the police,Balwan,based in Rajasthans Jhunjhunu,had fallen in love with Hanumangarh resident Lilawati. Since both belonged to same caste,their families were against the relationship. However,the couple eloped and got married in Rewari on September 20.
On Wednesday,Balwan approached the court seeking protection for him and Lilawati. However,his petition was dismissed.
Balwan was waiting for his lawyer when Lilawatis relatives attacked him. According to Balwan,over five people attacked him. While a few have been arrested,the rest will also be nabbed soon, Sub-Inspector Jagdish Kumar said.
