Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said his government has given an in-principle approval for construction of 89,000 houses under the rental housing scheme.
Replying to a question by NCP’s Vidya Chavan during the Question Hour on the proposed construction of five lakh rental houses in Mumbai,he said that 37,000 houses were currently under construction.

“It is an important scheme and a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Mumbai commissioner,which submitted its report on January 6 and a review committee was set up in May,which has also submitted its report.
“While the construction of 37,000 houses is in progress,the government has given in-principle approval to the construction of another 89,000 houses,” Chavan added.
