IIT Guwahati student feared drowned in Brahmaputra

A seventh semester B Tech student of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) who had gone to take a bath in the Brahmaputra went missing Thursday evening

A seventh semester B Tech student of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) who had gone to take a bath in the Brahmaputra went missing Thursday evening and the police fear he might have drowned.

The student,identified as Ravindra Kumar Meena,hails from Dholpur in Rajasthan,and had returned to the campus on Monday from summer break.

Official sources said Ravindra,a boarder of the Dihing Hostel at IIT-G,had gone to take a bath in the Brahmaputra at around 6:30 PM Monday evening with six hostel-mates when he was washed away by the swirling currents of the river.
