BRISBANE, NOV 7: Australia captain Mark Taylor silenced his critics and deflated a resurgent New Zealand with a century on the opening day of the first Test today.
The left-handed opener, whose Test future has been repeatedly questioned over the past 12 months because of a prolonged form slump, scored 112 at the Gabba.
