India’s Ambassador to the United States Ronen Sen arrived here to appear before the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee on Monday. He is scheduled to appear before the Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee on November 2.

The two committees have summoned him following the controversial “headless chickens” remark made by him in the course of a media interview. Sen has since expressed regrets and clarified that the remark made in the context of the India-US nuclear deal imbroglio was in reference to some people in the media, but members of both Houses have been insistent that the issue be referred to the privileges committees.

Sen has been a key player in the conclusion of the nuclear deal.
