Union minister of state for Women and Children Development Minister Renuka Choudhury on Wednesday came out in support of the woman RAW official, who attempted suicide in New Delhi alleging sexual harassment by her superiors, and said she will seek explanation from the external intelligence agency.

Attacking RAW over the issue, Choudhury said her ministry will seek answers from the intelligence agency in connection with the suicide bid and the allegations levelled by Nisha Bhatia, posted in the rank of Director at the training centre of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in Gurgaon.

“The Women and Children Development Ministry will seek answers from the RAW taking cognisance of the incident,” she told reporters here.

Bhatia allegedly tried to end her life on Tuesday by consuming poison outside the Prime Minister’s Office alleging that RAW was not taking proper action against those whom she made allegations of sexually harassed her.

The RAW official last night said she was “throwing away her job” to protest the callous way in which authorities were handling cases of sexual harassment.

“I am throwing away my job and everything to wind,” she said alleging that RAW chief Ashok Chaturvedi used explicit language all the time.

Bhatia claimed that she did not attempt suicide because she was unstable. “Please bear in mind that I am not unstable.
