VADODARA, Nov 30: Civil Aviation Minister Anantha Kumar has agreed not to discontinue the Indian Airlines flight for the Mumbai-Vadodara-Mumbai sector IC 689/690 and has promised that the flight will operate as scheduled from December 2, a press release stated on Monday. The decision came in the wake of Union Textile Minister Kashiram Rana’s intervention in the matter, the release added.

On Saturday, IA had announced a temporary withdrawal of its only Mumbai-Vadodara-Mumbai flight between December 1 and 31, citing shortage of aircraft. According to the release, some citizens chanced to meet Rana aboard a Vadodara-Delhi flight and apprised him of the matter. Rana is said to have assured them of assistance and met Kumar on his return to Delhi.

The office of the IA Commercial Director, New Delhi, confirmed receiving the minister’s orders and said the flight would operate from Wednesday.
