Over-speeding KP fined
Melbourne: England batsman Kevin Pietersen was on Thursday fined for over-speeding near Geelong in Victoria. The police officer used a laser speed detector to nab the 30-year-old batsman,who was allegedly driving at 121km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Geelong Ring Road at 2.35pm,the Herald-Sun reported. Pietersen was fined $239 and lost three demerit points. His joyride in the $475,000 yellow sports car came courtesy of Shane Warnes relationship with a local dealer.
Lanka-WI ODIs postponed
Sooriyawewa: The five-match limited-overs series between Sri Lanka and the West Indies has been postponed due to bad weather. Sri Lanka Cricket announced that the one-day series has been rescheduled for next year and is likely to get underway late January. A single T20 match has also been postponed. Most of a three-Test series earlier was disrupted by rain and ended in a 0-0 draw.
Eden will be ready by Feb 27
Kolkata: Cricket Association of Bengal chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has assured enthusiasts that the Eden Gardens,scheduled to host four World Cup matches,would be ready by February 27 for their first match of the event. After meeting an ICC inspection team at the ground,Dalmiya said delayed construction should not be a cause for concern. Even other venues,where renovation work is going on,are not ready yet, Dalmiya said.
