Australian Netball star Gerrard wants to explore India

Being confined to the Games Village due to security reasons is frustrating for her.

Just being confined to the Games Village due to security reasons is frustrating for Australian netball star Mo’onia Gerrard as she wants to go out and explore India.

At first opportunity to get out of Village Gerrard would like to go and see Taj Mahal,a symbol of love and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Australian athletes have been asked to stay at the Village as their Prime Minister Julia Gillard had warned of a terror threat to the Commonwealth Games.

The 29-year-old Gerrard said though she understands the concerns behind the tough guidelines but was disappointed at not being able to experience the real India.

“I’m kind of a person that likes to see things out of the box so to speak. I like to get amongst it but of course we can’t do that for security reasons. To not get to see anything outside of (the village) is definitely disappointing, but hopefully there’s an opportunity where we can see the Taj Mahal or something,” she said.

Gerrard said they are following the guidelines and would look to win gold, something that they have come here to do.

“I wouldn’t say we’re trapped but we can’t really go outside and experience normal life,” Gerrard was quoted as saying ‘Sydney Morning Herald’.
