NEW DELHI, June 28: The Delhi police has decided to put aside plans to have oxygen kits fitted in its 400-odd police control room(PCR) vehicles for the time being as experts have found it non-feasible, police sources said.

This decision was taken after anaesthesia experts found the quality of the sample kits purchased from a private company “not up to the standards” and also due to lack of training among the police personnel to handle such devices. “The PCR department dropped the plan as it did not want to take any chances. Anaesthesia experts advised not to use the small oxygen kits as they did not have a proper gas regulator system,” a senior police official said.

“The small oxygen kits were not found up to the mark and the big cylinders could not be fitted into the PCRs. It has been decided to shelve the plan for the time being,” he said. A few months ago, the PCR department got the sample kits fitted into two or three PCRs on a trial basis.
