HONG KONG: Hong Kong is no longer a free-market economy following the government’s unprecedented foray into the stock and futures markets aimed at driving out speculators, democratic party leader Martin Lee said today. The government waded into the stock market yesterday using some of its massive foreign exchange fund to beat back speculators who had sent the bourse to five-year lows in a double-edged attack on the currency and stock futures markets.
