HYDERABAD, June 17: Activists of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) went on a rampage damaging several vehicles as their leader M Krishna was arrested by police early today.

Krishna, who was on a fast-unto-death since June five demanding classification of Scheduled Castes, was picked up by police around 0430 hours amidst resistance from his supporters, official sources said.

Krishna was later admitted to Nizam’s institute of medical sciences (NIMS) where his condition was stated to be stable.

MRPS activists pelted stones and damaged RTC buses in the city, forcing the authorities to suspend bus services, the sources added.
