ROOPNAGAR, Nov 11: The police here have booked two local residents, including a woman, for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old youth Sandeep Kumar Sikka.
According to police sources, both the accused have been booked under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and a hunt has been launched by the police to nab them. Sources said a local resident Sikka, sustained serious head injuries when motor-mechanics — Gurpal Singh and Jaspal Kaur Madaan — allegedly attacked him with iron rods. He was immediately rushed to the PGI, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Personal enmity is believed to be the reason behind the murder.
30 truckloads of relief material
The district administration today sent 30 truckload of relief material for the cyclone-hit people of Orissa. Deputy Commissioner Gurinder Singh Grewal flagged off the caravan of trucks loaded with relief material from Landran village near Kharar this afternoon for Shambhu Barrier, from where the caravan of relief material received from the entire state would be flagged off by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for New Delhi.
The relief material included edible items, garments, shoes and blankets.
