The BSF on Friday invited journalists to cover an encounter in which four militants were killed. A year ago, a BSF contingent manhandled some journalists who were covering a similar incident at Magam. Over two dozen scribes were injured and some lost their cameras in the fracas.

Though the BSF had apologised for last year’s incident and promised compensation, their inquiry is apparently yet to conclude. Journalists say the BSF’s assurances have turned out to be mere talk. The inquiry, first conducted by a BSF Inspector-General, was later handed over to another IG.
