NEW DELHI, Aug 12: Tense about the turnout at the much-touted March of the Nation on August 14, the Delhi Government has been issuing frequent circulars followed by reminders to various departments to come out with healthy contingents to participate.

A crowd of 25,000 for the march now looks too steep to attain. As a result, according to sources in Delhi Government, a number of `informal’ directions have been issued to various organisations of private professionals for raising the troops. Some of the top traders have been asked to gather “at least 100 people” each to attend the celebrations.

Said a trader who had received a similar intimation: “We cannot all take part in the march as traders, because the Sales Tax Department is already taking 200 traders as its contingent.”

Highly placed sources in Delhi administration, however, said that there was nothing new about the official circulars being issued to various departments. “It is done in view of including all the wings of a Government. This is not to force anyone to do anything,” said an official.
