Like the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Indian Cricket League has also preferred to have Australian as the support staff. Among the group, Paul Watson, who has trained athletes for the Olympics, swimmers and rugby players has been appointed as the strength and conditioning coach.

“The boys are great, they are really keen. With my job, you can adopt to any sport. Variety makes you more alive. The face of Indian cricket is changing, with the next generation being a lot fitter. T20 takes a lot more out of the batsmen and fielders, but not too much of the bowlers compared to the other versions.”

So, it will be a challenge for the players to get fitter,” said Watson.
