PERTH, MAY 5: Hampered by wet conditions, Indian women began their campaign badly in the four-nation Telstra Challenge Hockey Tournament, going down 2-5 to South Africa in the opening clash tonight.

Leading 2-1 at half-time, the South Africans wrapped up the game convincingly with three more goals after the interval.

Scorers were Pietie Coetzee, Kerry Bee, Abigail van Schalkwyk, Susan Wessels and Caryn Bentley, while Sita Gussain and Suraj Lata Devi replied for India.
