SURAT, Feb 21: Four women died of burn injuries in the city and district on Sunday.
According to details, two cases of women succumbing to burns were reported in the Varchha Police Station, while two deaths were reported from the Palsana and Kakrapar police stations.
According to special branch ACP M B Pethani, one Nina Vinod Patil (20), a resident of Das Ni Wadi area of Ashwini Kumar Road, died in the New Civil hospital of the city on Sunday morning. She sustained burn injuries a week ago while cooking. She was rushed to the hospital but died on Sunday.
In the second case of burns death registered at the same police station on Sunday morning, Lili Dubey, 25, a resident of Patelnagar slum, died in the Maskati hospital. According to the police, she got burnt when an earthern lamp fell on her body on Tuesday night.
In other two deaths due to burns, the district police control room said Sangeeta Rajput (26), a resident of Vareli village in Palsana taluka and Chandi Gamit, a resident of Bhadkuwa village of Kakrapar, died due to burn injuries. They were being treated at the New Civil Hospital and the Vyara Refrall Hospital respectively. Cases under CrPC 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure have been registered in the respective police stations.
