Mumbai, December 30: Rahul Dandekar (handicap 21) won the Bombay Presidency Golf Club X’Mas stableford golf title at the par-70 BPGC course.

Stringing together eight pars, which included one on the difficult par-4 14th that netted him four points (nett-eagle), Dandekar aggregated a high of 46 (25 points over the front nine) points in the 18-hole tournament.

Baldev R Kapoor (handicap 18) finished as the runner-up with 43 points (20 over the front-nine) collecting four points on the par-3 tenth where he shot a birdie. Both Dandekar and Kapoor carded 81 gross.

Raja Raman and Rajan Kacker won the Andy Sharma Cup. Deepak Kanwar and Karan Kanwar finished second.

Yashodhan Gogte top
Yashodhan Gogte of Bombay Scottish, with 9.5 points out of 11 rounds, won the boys under-12 title in the Parle-G chess festival, organised by the Bandra Chess Club, at the St Stanislaus High School premises.

Sachin Kamat of Fr Agnel (Vashi), with nine points, and Ninad Puranik, with 8.5 points, finished second and third, respectively.

Vasant Vihar High School beat People’s Education High School by two wickets in the final of the fourth Ghantali Cup Thane City under-14 Inter-School cricket tournament at the Central Maidan.

Payyade Cricket Club, Kandivli, beat Bhatnagar Sports and Cultural Foundation, Andheri, by five wickets in the final of the 44th Balkrishna Bapat Shield Suburban cricket tournament, conducted by the Kurla Sports Club, at the Maj. Dadkar Maidan, Matunga.
Brief scores: Final: Bhatnagar 198 in 40.4 overs (Amol Rane 80, Amogh Bhatawdekar 42; Jayesh Dadarkar 6-52) lost to Payyade 200-5 in 35.2 overs (Prashant Manjrekar 58, Ajay Kadam 46 n.o., Jayesh Dadarkar 34 n.o.; Manish Sakhalkar 3-40) by five wickets.
