Alleged criminal arrested after encounter
The north-west district police claim to have arrested a notorious criminal after a fierce encounter at village Manothi in the Bahadurgarh police station area. The accused, along with armed gang members, had attacked the Ford Escort stock yard at Jindpur on May 26. After intimidating the security guards and injuring them, the assailants had escaped with a Ford Escort and nine car stereos. It took the police about three months to trace the criminals. Investigations revealed that the armed robbery was led by a notorious criminal Ajay, a resident of Manothi.

A police team waited outside the village. They received a tip-off that a criminal was travelling in a tractor-trolley. When the police tried to stop the vehicle, its occupants opened fire on the police team. A constable, who was hit by a bullet, returned the fire. The bullet hit one of then occupants, later identified as the accused’s brother, Ashok. The police say Ajay has been involved in ten cases of murder, attempt to murder, and has several cases pending under the Arms Act. His brother, Ashok, is a dismissed constable from the BSF. Police also arrested Ajay’s second brother, Sanjay, who is involved in two cases of dacoity and attempt to murder.

2 robberies reported
Three unidentified youths stabbed a grocer and robbed him of Rs 6,000 in Bhajanpura Wednesday evening. In a separate incident earlier in the day at Kalayanpuri, also across the Yamuna, two Maruti car-borne men robbed a businessman of Rs 5,000. The first incident occurred when Rajinder, who owns a grocery in the Azad Marg area of Bhajanpura, had closed his shop and was leaving with his day’s earnings.

Rajinder said he saw four to five youths embroiled in a altercation in the vicinity. But when he tried to intervene, one of the youths attacked him with a knife. Two others snatched his bag containing Rs 6,000 and fled. He sustained injuries on his head. In the Kalayanpuri police station area, garment businessman Anil Kumar was intercepted by two unidentified men, also in a Maruti car in Noida mod. They brandished pistols and took away Kumar’s bag containing Rs 5,000 and soe documents. He later told the police gun-wielding occupants of the Maruti car were wearing helmets.

Murder in Gokulpuri
Taqdeer Ul Nisha (38) was murdered on Thursday afternoon in her home in Sonia VIhar in Gokulpuri. Her 15 year daughter was also injured in the attack.

Police say Nisha had been stabbed by a sharp instrument and hit by a stone. There was no ransacking and robbery does not seem to be the motive. It seems there was an attempt to sexually assault the daughter.
