NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 28: The Sultanpuri Station House Officer and two sub-inspectors were summoned by Metropolitan Magistrate B.S. Chumbak following a complaint that three accused had been injured while in their custody. The magistrate has issued directions to SHO Jagbir Singh and Sub-Inspectors (SI) Raghubir Singh Yadav also the Investigating Officer in the case and Attar Singh to present themselves in court on March 5.

On January 28, 1999, the Sultanpuri Police Station filed a complaint against Gajraj, Dinesh and Mahesh. The complainant Daulat Ram accused the trio of trying to kill him and his friend.

The FIR said the three forced their way into an office opposite the DVB office on Karala road. The complainant and his friend were reportedly present in the office at that time. The three men allegedly attacked the complainant, his friend and tried to kill them with a country-made pistol.

The Sultanpuri Police Station later raided the accused persons’ houses. The three surrendered in the Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on February 17, 1999.

Investigating Officer (IO), Raghubir Singh Yadav appeared and requested that the accused be remanded in police custody. The court okayed the request. Following an appeal from the defence counsel, the court directed the IO to conducting a medical examination of the accused. The trio were examined at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. The two were again produced on February 19 in court after which they were taken for another medical examination, which showed that the accused had received some injuries.
