MUMBAI, JUNE 18: The Bombay Hockey Association will conduct the knock-out Bombay Hockey Championship at the Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate, from Monday, June 19 to July 1.
Meanwhile the Super League, which commenced in mid-November, 1999, will be completed shortly. Currently, Bharat Petroleum, who seem to be posing a challenge to title-holders Air-India, are in second place with 19 points with six triumphs and a draw from seven games.
Air-India are hot on their heels with six victories from as many games. Western Railway are in third place with the same aggregate of 19 points as BPCL, but have tallied the points from eight games with a draw against BPCL and a defeat to their counterparts Central Railway.
Tatas, the glamour side of yesteryear too, are in the title race with 19 points. They occupy the top penant on a better goal difference than BPCL, having notched 24 goals in two matches against whipping boys Companeroes and Young Sports.
The race now seems limited to three teams, Tatas, BPCL and Air-India with Western Railway in a position to upset the calculations of Air-India and Tatas, both of whom they still have to play.
