Kuala Lumpur, April 19: Grandmaster Eva Repkova of Lebanon scored a crushing victory over Mekhri Ovezova of Turkmenistan to join Chinese top seed Xu Yuhua in the lead with seven points at the end of the ninth round of the Asian women’s chess championship here today.

Xu Yuhua was held to a draw by Rena Mamedova (6) of Uzbekistan.

India’s IWM Bhagyashree Thipsay (5.5) had to use all her experience to overcome Irina Gorshkova (4.5) of Uzbekistan in Caro-Kan defence.

Her compatriot, National champion Anupama Gokhale, played a good endgame to defeat Nguyen Thidung (4.5) of Vietnam.
