PUNE, June 2: Twenty eight students of Darululu Mohammedia Madrasa, located at a mosque near Pune railway station took ill after consuming kadhi and rice last night.
The students belonging to the age group of eight to twelve years, were shifted to Sassoon Hospital after they suffered convulsion, nausea and de-hydration early in the morning. Hospital sources said that their condition is improving.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children ate kadhi and rice sent by a citizen to the Madrasa. However, the name of the citizen who sent the food was not available till late in the evening.
The Madrasa was started in 1981. It has 150 students hailing from Pune, Solapur, Beed, Mumbai and Nashik, the school authorities said.
