Mumbai, May 7: Anjali Vedpathak of Maharashtra won an individual silver medal in the air rifle event of the International Invitational Shooting Championship at Munich (Germany) on Friday, according to a Maharashtra Rifle Association press release.

She missed a gold medal by 0.2 point, scoring 396 out of 400. She was third in the preliminary round but in the 10-shot final, she finished second.

Anjali is now one of the top contenders for the Olympic 2000 as in the last three months, she has surpassed the Olympic record not only in the Commonwealth Shooting Championship but also in three National events.

Anjali’s team-mate in the Munich World Cup Deepali Deshpande and Kuheli Gangulee shot 390 and 388 respectively. The Indian team of Jaspal Rana (582/600), Vedprakash (582/600) and Samresh Jung (573/600), won a bronz medal in air pistol event for men. The honour in this event went to the Russian team.
