A day after Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines announced their plans to hike fuel surcharge by Rs 300 per ticket, Air India today followed suit.

“The additional fuel surcharge will be Rs 300 per ticket and will come into effect from Monday,” confirmed Jitendra Bhargava, spokesperson for Air India.

The hike comes in the wake of the rise in the cost of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by 14 per cent. The total fuel surcharge per passenger ticket is now as high as Rs 1,650. Low-cost airlines Deccan Aviation, Spice Jet and Go Air may also hike fuel surcharges on certain routes.
