The origins of Eid ul-Fitr trace back to the Prophet Muhammad’s time when he established two major Islamic holidays: Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha.

Eid begins with prayers early in the morning called Eid Salah, which usually take place in mosques or open grounds and is followed by family gatherings for grand feasts that feature sweet dishes like Seviyan (vermicelli), Kheer, and Phirni, leading to its name, Meethi Eid.
