Things to look forward to at the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI

Prepare to witness a dynamic mix of established designers and emerging talents — each bringing their unique styles and boundless creativity to the forefront. Renowned designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Amit Aggarwal, Gauri & Nainika, and Anju Modi are just a few of the creative minds who will grace the event with their exceptional creations.

The grand opening of the event will be marked by an offsite show, featuring the theme “Lakme’s Glitterati Collection,” presented in collaboration with Lakmé, FDCI, and Reliance Brands.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to make our return to New Delhi for this season’s Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. As we continue to strengthen the platform, which serves as a showcase for the finest design talent in the industry, we are also upbeat about always elevating the business of fashion. Our goal is to support both young and established designers, fostering an environment that encourages innovation and creativity. And with this edition, we wish to captivate and inspire stakeholders from across the industry.”

Here are some highlights to anticipate at the fashion week:

Lakmé Glitterati: The event will feature two Lakmé showcases, starting with the Lakmé Glitterati show on October 10, culminating with the House of Lakmé Grand Finale on October 15. This finale will pay homage to an Indian designer whose work has transcended cultural and geographical boundaries, with the designer to be announced soon.

Marquee Collaborative Showcases: Leading brands will join hands with prominent designers, presenting a seamless fusion of fashion. The lineup includes “Birkenstock presents Grounded in Nature by Shivan and Narresh,” “NEXA presents Amit Aggarwal,” “Kohler presents Tarun Tahiliani,” and more.

Sustainability Spotlight: On Day 2 of LFW X FDCI, sustainability takes center stage. Sustainable Fashion Day will feature showcases by renowned brands like 11:11, Payal Pratap, and Reliance Brand Presents Abraham & Thakore. The day will culminate with the prestigious R|Elan™ presents Circular Design Challenge in partnership with the United Nations in India, where global finalists will compete for the title.

Textile Tales: Designers are set to take textiles to new heights, crafting fabrics that minimise waste and tell unique stories. From Samant Chauhan’s Ice Watch collection featuring Bhagalpuri Silks to Varun Bahl’s R|Elan™ fabrics, the fashion world will witness a fresh approach to playing with textiles.

Nurturing Emerging Talent: The fashion week is dedicated to fostering new and emerging talent. Initiatives and showcases, including INIFD presents GenNext, NEXA presents The Spotlight, INIFD Launchpad, and FDCI X Pearl Academy First Cut, will provide a national platform for young design talent from across India.

Femme Couture: Expect showcases celebrating and inspired by women. Names like One Infinite Presents Faabiiana, Vvani by Vani Vats, Bhumika Sharma, Mahima Mahajan, Kalki, and more will present captivating collections that pay homage to the strength and grace of women.

The five-day-long fashion extravaganza will be accessible to a global audience via OTT partners Jio Cinema and Jio TV, as well as through Lakmé, LFW, and FDCI’s social media channels.
