Day three of India Couture Week 2023, jointly organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Hyundai India, continued the sartorial momentum set by the initial two days as renowned couturiers Gaurav Gupta and Varun Bahl presented their stunning collections on the runway.

Gupta, who has made a mark for himself not just in India but internationally as well, showcased his collection called ‘Hiranyagarbha’. According to FDCI, this collection is a journey from birth to harmony with the cosmos — inviting us to embrace the stark light within.

“It emerges from the pristine nothingness, where all possibilities of metamorphosis reside. Floating through the cosmic cycle of elements, it symbolises the creation and absorption back into the supreme reality, the Brahman. The starkness of the first light is imagined with absolute whites and lustrous, iridescent pearls, reminiscent of a blank canvas eager to begin. Life bursts forth with unstoppable fluorescence,” it added.

Janhvi Kapoor graced the runway as the showstopper for this head-turning collection by the ace designer. The actor wore an opulent ensemble comprising of an eclectic blue lehenga, a matching strappy blouse and a sheer cape dupatta resting on her shoulders. The shimmery outfit featured intricate embroidery and fine craftsmanship. She ditched other accessories and let the outfit do all the talking.

For makeup, she opted for a subtle eyeshadow, blushed cheeks, nude pink lips, mascara-laden eyes and styled her hair in wavy up do.

Earlier on the same day, Bhumi Pednekar became the muse for Varun Bahl, who presented his collection ‘Inner Bloom’. FDCI noted, “The collection showcases artisanal embroideries with beautiful 3D flowers, focusing on young and playful silhouettes in vivid hues. It includes bridal couture pieces for the contemporary and modern bride, with dreamy, experimental, and edgy designs while maintaining fine handwork.”

It further mentioned that this collection blends free-spirited, boho-chic style with haute couture craftsmanship, offering dramatic yet functional ensembles for the modern bride.

Bhumi looked resplendent in her striking ensemble, which consisted of a heavily embroidered gold fishtail lehenga with a thigh-high slit, paired with a matching strappy bralette-style top. The textured outfit featured intricate gold and silver work with uneven patterns.

To accessorise the look, the actor wore layered pendants, a couple of rings and golden heels. Her wavy hair cascaded beautifully, and she completed the look with a smokey eyeshadow, kohled eyes, blushed cheeks and a glossy lip colour.
