Stuck since 1975, Jamrani Dam project gets nod for construction

The construction of the Jamrani Dam (150.60 m height) is proposed on the Gaula River, 10 km upstream from Kathgodam in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.

The Economic Affairs Committee of the Union Cabinet has given its approval to the long-awaited Jamrani Dam project in Nainital district.

Informing about the developments during a press conference, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to PM Narendra Modi for the project and said that clearing the way for the construction of this dam project will solve the problem of drinking water and irrigation in Haldwani and surrounding areas. The construction of the project could not start since 1975 due to lack of funding.
