Arrested TDP MLA hospitalised,then discharged

TDP legislator T V Rama Rao was arrested on charges of allegedly harassing girl students of a nursing institute being run by him.

TDP legislator T V Rama Rao,who was arrested on charges of allegedly harassing girl students of a nursing institute being run by him in West Godavari district,was discharged from hospital on Tuesday morning.

Doctors attending on Rao said that he did not require further hospitalisation as his heart functioning was “normal”.

The legislator was admitted to the government hospital here after he complained of chest pain and uneasinesss,and underwent ECG and cardiogram tests.

Following his discharge,Rao was today taken to the central jail in Rajahmundhry after he was remanded to judicial custody till August 3 by a magistrate court at Eluru last evening,police said.

The legislator has been booked under relevant sections of IPC like punishment for wrongful restraint (Section 341),criminal intimidation (Section 506),assault or criminal force to a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty (Section 354),after allegations that he made attempts to outrage the modesty of some nursing students in the institute.

Rao was arrested yesterday at Kovvur in his native West Godavari district from his residence by a team of CB-CID personnel,probing the case.
