Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi for his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal, the BJP on Thursday accused the Congress chief of manufacturing lies on the issue every day. The BJP said that Rahul is hallucinating because his party has lost relevance.

“Congress has lost all hopes to become relevant and has lost its patience too. Rafale comes even in their dreams… Rahul Gandhi is manufacturing lies every day on the Rafale jet deal,” Union Minister for HRD Prakash Javadekar said during a press conference here.

Earlier in the day, Rahul alleged that the government had forced CBI Director Alok Verma to go on indefinite leave over the possibility of him investigating the Rafale deal.

“He is manufacturing lies on Rafale every day. Today he came out with two falsehoods. The first falsehood is that the CBI Director was removed, but fact is that he was not removed. He has been sent on leave. No 1 (Verma) and No 2 (Special Director Rakesh Asthana) have been sent on leave,” Javadekar said. “The second falsehood is that Verma was sent on leave because he was inquiring about Rafale…There is no inquiry. There is no case of inquiry on Rafale. He (Rahul) says that papers were taken from his office. This is utterly fallacious, malicious and a manufactured lie.”
