The Chhattisgarh Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) recently apprehended two minors and booked them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for their alleged links to an Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) module, where they were influenced online and were further influencing others on social media.
According to officers, the matter came to light when the cyber police came across a few posts made by the two youngsters while monitoring social media platforms. Following this, their activities were closely monitored, and after ascertaining that their activities were anti-India, they were apprehended and booked under UAPA.
Confirming the development to the media Tuesday, Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma said it was “a major success” for ATS.
“Two minors from Raipur were in touch (online) with the ISIS group. The two were working on the directions of the Pakistan module, which was working for ISIS. The two were active on social media and with the help of fake Instagram IDs, they were influencing others,” Sharma told reporters.
“The two were inspired and working on directions of the Pakistan module of ISIS and were also in touch with them. As part of this, they were instigating and influencing youngsters and expanding their network on social media. They had increased their reach on Instagram,” Sharma added.
