The Orissa High Court on Monday reserved its order after completion of hearing on a batch of PILs seeking CBI inquiry into the multi-crore mining scam in the state.

At least seven PILs were filed on different days and the High Court had admitted four of them for adjudication.

A division bench of Chief Justice V Gopal Gowda and Justice B N Mohapatra heard the case for the last four months during which the state government had opposed the PIL.

Appearing for the state government,Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohtagi had termed the PIL as vague and inconsequential.

The state government had also told the High Court that a vigilance inquiry has been ordered into it and the anti-corruption wing of the police is doing a commendable job after registering several cases.

However, the petitioners had contested the government plea saying that the vigilance department is ill-equipped to handle such a case.

The PILs were filed, among others,by Rini Rath and B P Parija, advocates of the high court.
