At least one person was killed and 15 wounded when a bomb went off in India’s restive north-eastern state of Assam on Tuesday,police said.

Senior police officer D. Deori said the blast occurred in Jyotikuchi area of Guwahati,Assam’s main city.

More than 80 people were killed in a string of bombs in Assam last year. That attack was blamed on Islamist militants from neighbouring Bangladesh in league with the rebel group,ULFA.
