The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested three National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants from Navi Mumbai for their suspected role in the ethnic violence in Assam in December last year which claimed 74 lives.
“We arrested them on Friday and produced them on Saturday before the court, which granted their transit remand till April 10,” an ATS official said.

The three have been identified as Bisho alias Ansai Songa Basumatary (22), Swamkhwr Basumatary (20) and Purno Narzary (19). According to the official, they were working in a cold storage unit in Taloja. “We had kept a watch on the movements of the three who were living in separate places,” the official added.
In Assam, the three alleged militants are wanted in a case of kidnapping, conspiracy and waging a war against the nation, registered against them in Chariduar police station. After the violence, many militants fled the north-eastern state after police began a crackdown.
