Rahul Gandhi pays tribute to earthquake victims at Nepal embassy

After the meeting, Rahul said the Congress has already been making efforts to provide help to Nepal and “reassured the ambassador that if they need any help they should let us know”.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited the Nepal embassy here to pay his respects to the victims of the earthquake and express solidarity with the people of Nepal.

He met Ambassador Deepak Kumar Upadhyay and conveyed his condolences, reiterated personal as well his party’s and India’s solidarity with the people of Nepal, the Congress said. His meeting with the Ambassador comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has earned praise for leading New Delhi’s relief efforts.

After the meeting, Rahul said the Congress has already been making efforts to provide help to Nepal and “reassured the ambassador that if they need any help they should let us know”.

In the condolence book, Rahul wrote: “Over the last week the world has watched in horror as the true scale of the tragedy in Nepal unfolded… Some wounds will never heal, but as Nepal begins the hard task of rebuilding each broken life and buildings, the people of India stand with you in strength and solidarity.”
